Lauren Carnell is a London-based film photographer who focuses mainly on portraiture, music, and fashion photography. Shooting in medium format, she gains more perceptive and every composition, pose and setting is well thought out before she releases the shutter. It has influenced her style of photography too; often leaning towards adding pops of colour. She loves the unique colour tone that film produces and it forces her to be more open-minded and experiment with new ideas.

‘Diaphanous’ (meaning light, delicate and translucent). I feel it perfectly encapsulates what my images are about. I used the glass to play with the light as well as position the model as if she was trapped behind it, highlighting her delicate nature. The images draw contrasts between the sharp glass edges and the natural fluidity of her clothing and hair. I shot these images with my Hasselblad H1, using only natural light and reflections.
